The Historical Report

The results of our historical research are written into report that includes a narrative of past homeowners, their occupations and business addresses, census research on the occupants, copies of the original building permit and subsequent work permits, discussions of social history, discussions on builders or architects, photocopies of historic photographs if any, and historic maps showing changes with the plan over time.

Included in your report is an illustrated narrative of your neighborhood history, as well as information on the development of your specific block, with building dates provided for most structures located close by.

It is presented in full color on 100% cotton, kid finish Crane paper in an attractive bound booklet with an embossed and perforated cover. The text is also presented on computer disk (MS Word 6.0) for adding additional information found in the future, or your own history or renovation plans. A folder with copies of all pertinent documents and archival finds is also included. We can also supply a completely illustrated version on a 100 or 250 meg zip disk or CD rom.

Photocopies and scans of any historic photographs are included, with information on ordering professional photograph copies directly from the historical source. For example, the Historical Society of DC $35 per image, with a waiting period of 3 to 4 weeks.

If an e-mail address is provided, we will occasionally forward historical information, on a complementary basis, relating to your house, business, neighborhood, street, or on the people responsible for its design that is found in future searches or investigations, up to two years after your report is presented.

A copy of your house history is deposited in local historical respositories for others to enjoy and utilize, unless you prefer otherwise. A full bibliography of sources is also included.

Several contemporary digital photographs of your house or business is also presented within the report, and one full view is presented on disk in a jpg format, suitable for your web page, Email, or other electronic uses. Our reports obviously vary in size, from 15 pages to several dozen.
